About this painting: Wheatens mean business when they beg. NO dog breed in the history of dogs begs better than a Wheaten Terrier. This fabulous expressive dog was a joy to paint. She is one in a series of three Wheaten paintings. The other two will be available soon. They are titled, "Wheatens Understand Irony" and "Wheatens Go Beyond Cute".
I started these pieces with abstract patterns. Then I used a paint pen to do a fast expressive sketch. And then I build up layers of color, always allowing bits and pieces of the underlying structure to peak through. Very satisfying.
